Lochinvar VAL1160 Valve, Gas DV41-51 NAT B/4 S/N WASCP SC300(LES,NES) GAS VALVE SERVICE REPLACEMENT KIT (PART# 2654014801,02) FOR ROBERTSHAW 7200IPER GAS VALVE USED ON MITW MODEL SERIES.
SCP SC300(LES,NES) GAS VALVE SERVICE REPLACEMENT KIT(PART# 2654014801,02) FOR ROBERTSHAW 7200IPER GAS VALVEUSED ON MITW MODEL SERIES.

The enclosed SCP SC-300LES (L.P.) or SC-300NES (natural gas) will either replace an existing SCP SC-300 series gas valve with no modifications or replace a Robertshaw 7200IPER gas valve using the enclosed parts in this replacement kit.

1. Remove gas valve from kit and make sure the gas type (natural or L.P.)listed on the gas valve label corresponds to the gas type listed on the water neater rating plate and the type of gas supplied at the installation.

2. Turn off the gas supply and unplug or disconnect electric power to the water heater.

3. Disconnect the pipe union ahead of the gas valve. Unscrew gas supply pipe from the gas valve inlet flange. Unscrew the pilot tube and burner feedline tube from gas valve.

4. Disconnect the gas valve wires from the ignition control module.

5. Remove the two machine screws from the gas valve mounting bracket. Some control boxes may have a gas valve mounting bracket that uses an additional sheet metal screw on the left side of the control box that will need to be removed. If this is the case, the gas valve bracket will need to be changed to use the service replacement bracket (2394014500) supplied in the kit. Refer to the procedures outlined on items 7 and 8 on the next page. Remove the gas valve from the control box. Save the screws.

6. Line up replacement gas valve inside the control box with the gas valve inlet flange about 1/8" through the control box flange opening. Align gas valve bracket holes with the machine threaded inserts.

7. Fasten valve bracket with the two screws from the old valve. Discard unused parts from kit.

8. Apply pipe dope to threads of gas supply nipple and thread into gas valve inlet flange. Brace other end of valve flange while tightening pipe. Reconnect gas supply union. Connect and tighten pilot tubing and burner tube feed line.

9. Disconnect red wire on "TH" terminal of ignition module and connect into 1/4" male terminal of red wire from gas valve switch. Connect other red lead from switch having 1/4" female terminal to "TH" terminal on ignition module. Connect white wire on valve labeled "PV/MV" and black wires labeled "PV" and "MV" to the respectively marked terminals on the ignition module. Note: The "PV" wire has a 3/16" terminal to fit the same size tab on the ignition module.

10. Turn on gas supply and electric power. Check gas line connections to valve for leaks with soap bubbles. Depress switch on gas valve to "ON" position.

11. Raise thermostat to "HI" position to start burner operation. Check for proper operation. Check gas feedline to burner and pilot tubing for leaks using soap bubbles.

12. Return thermostat to original setting.

Replacement of Robertshaw 7200IPER gas valve with SCP SC-300 using service kit parts:

1. Remove the gas valve from kit and make sure the gas type (natural or L.P.) listed on the gas valve label corresponds to the gas type listed on the water heater rating plate and the type of gas supplied at the installation.

2. Turn off the gas supply and unplug or disconnect electric power to the water heater.

3. Disconnect the pipe union ahead of the gas valve. Unscrew gas supply pipe from the gas valve inlet flange. Unscrew the pilot tube and burner feedline tube from the gas valve.

4. Disconnect the three gas valve wires from the ignition control module. Disconnect all wires from harness exiting through top rear hole of control box, i.e., ground wire connection, ignition module "TH" connection, transformer, and thermostat connections. All wiring should be labeled prior to disconnecting.

5. Remove the control box by removing all screws fastening the box to the jacket and lifting up and away to clear tab.

6. Place the control box upside down on a flat surface and remove the gas valve by unscrewing machine screws on the back of the control box.

7. Remove SCP gas valve from kit and remove bracket installed on the valve by unscrewing the two screws from the back of the valve body. Discard the bracket just removed from the valve. Install service replacement bracket (2394014500) supplied with the kit on back of the valve body with the bent flange facing toward you. The wide portion of the bracket must face the gas outlet connection to the burner. See illustration on next page.

8. Place the gas valve inside the control box with the bent outside flange of the bracket through the gas valve opening in the box. The lower left hole on the wide part of the mounting bracket will line up with the same size hole in the control box. Fasten with machine screw and nut provided in the kit. Hold the valve level against the flange opening and drill a self-drilling screw through the control box panel using the upper right bracket hole. Drill the remaining self-drilling screw through the gas valve bracket hole on the left side panel of the control box. Install control box to the water heater jacket while guiding the wire harness through the top opening in the control panel.

9. Apply pipe dope to threads of gas supply nipple and thread into gas valve inlet flange. Brace other end of valve flange while tightening pipe. Reconnect gas supply union. Connect and tighten pilot tubing and burner tube feedline. Note: Another 90° bend about 3" from the first one will be required on the pilot tubing to fit the bottom connection on the SCP replacement gas valve. Carefully bend the pilot tubing to run from the feedline to the bottom inlet connection taking care to avoid kinking the pilot tube.

10. Connect female terminal from the red wire of the harness in top of the control box into the 1/4" male terminal of the red wire from gas valve switch. Connect the other red lead from the switch having a 1/4" female terminal to "TH" terminal on the ignition module. Connect the white wire from gas valve labeled "PV/MV" and black wires labeled with "PV" and "MV" to the respectively marked terminals on the ignition module. Note: The "PV" wire from the gas valve has a 3/16" terminal. If the water heater being serviced has an older ignition module with a 1/4" PV terminal, use the terminal adapter wire (2394015400) supplied to connect the 3/16" terminal from the gas valve to the 1/4" PV terminal on the module.

11. Turn on gas supply and electric power. Check gas line connections to valve for leaks with soap bubbles. Depress switch on gas valve to "ON" position.

12. Raise thermostat dial to "Hl" or "Very Hot" position to start burner operation. Check for proper operation. Check the gas feedline to burner and pilot tubing connections for leaks using soap bubbles.

13. Return thermostat to the original setting. Refer to the installation and operating instructions for setting the thermostat

14. Remove the enclosed wiring diagram and lighting instructions from the kit, peel off the adhesive backing, and place the appropriate new label over the present label on the water heater jacket. Remove the installation instructions supplement and insert in the installation instructions manual with the water heater.
